Seismic Retrofit of a research facility near Charleston, SC

By Wendy • July 20th, 2011

Palmetto Gunite Construction Company is currently involved in a seismic retrofit project of an existing research facility near Charleston, SC. Micropiles are being installed vertically and at a 45 degree angle. Pile caps are being constructed around these piles to act as stiffeners in the event of seismic loadings. Existing footings have been retrofitted, and new grade beams are being created between existing pile caps under the research facility.
