Concrete Repair
Shotcrete is concrete (or mortar in some cases). It is not a super-concrete nor is it simply a cosmetic material. Shotcrete, when properly designed, results in a concrete structural member.
One notable advantage of shotcrete versus cast-in-place concrete however, is in the area of concrete repair. Due to the natural compaction resulting from the shotcrete process combined with the physical properties of the low water to cement ratio of shotcrete, design professionals are able to confidently rely on a complete bond between shotcrete and existing concrete in need of repair.
