Micropile Installation in Downtown Charleston

Working in the downtown Charleston metro area, our crew recently installed over 20 micropiles to help stabilize and reinforce the foundation of an existing structure. In a historic city like Charleston, foundation work often requires specialized solutions that can strengthen structures without causing major disruption to the surrounding buildings or infrastructure.

Micropiles are a highly effective deep foundation system that can be installed in tight spaces and challenging soil conditions. These small-diameter piles are drilled deep into stable soil or rock and then grouted to create a strong structural support capable of carrying significant loads.

For this project, each micropile was carefully drilled and installed to transfer the structural load to more stable ground below the surface. This process helps prevent settlement and provides long-term stability for the structure.

Working in downtown Charleston presents unique challenges, including limited access, historic preservation considerations, and nearby utilities and infrastructure. Our team carefully planned the installation to ensure the work was completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal impact to the surrounding historic area.

By installing more than 20 micropiles on this project, we were able to provide a reliable and durable foundation solution that will help keep the structure stable and secure for years to come.
